Get basic info such as Google PageRank, Alexa Rank, Compete Rank, external backlinks (incl. .edu and .gov), some http status codes and more with a free account at Spydermate. You will also get a ‘SpyderRating’ which ranks your website’s overall web marketing effort.

If certain parts of your site aren’t spiderable, search engines can’t reach your pages. If you want to check if your pages are accessible to search engines, use a tool like
WebConfs’ spider simulator. Flash based content, content generated through javascript, content displayed as images etc may not be visible to search engines. This tool simulates a search engine by displaying the contents of a webpage exactly how a search engine would see it. It also displays the hyperlinks that will be followed (crawled) by a Search Engine when it visits the particular webpage.

Search by URL or by keyword: Spyfu shows cost per click for a keyword, click per day, cost per day, search volume, number of search results and advertisers (limited) and their ad copy. All info is based on Google AdWords.

What is the density of your main keywords? Are you using your main keywords enough? What keywords is your competition focusing on? This tool on LinkVendor shows the most frequently used keywords of a website and calculates its percentage share.

Find currently popular keywords on Google Trends. Google Trends also shows web and blog results, news articles, graphs, historical data and trends by region and year. You can also compare relative search volume over time of multiple search phrases.

You can get cache, search and feed info on an URL on FaganFinder, but our favorite feature is the links section. You can get link info on BlogPulse, BlogLines, Technorati and more without having to reenter your URL or waiting for a refresh – nice!

Based on Google search results of course, this Google tool shows you relevant keyword ideas and their Adwords competition for your website.

A basic tool to see how difficult it will be to rank high for a given keyword or keyword phrase in the SERPs. SEOchat doesn’t give specific info about how they arrive at the result (anything else besides number of searches and SERPs?), but a few test searches turned out pretty realistic results.
