Hard to tell how he got the shots without the cars, because the images don’t look manipulated either. The Los Angeles photos were taken by a German tourist photographer and sorted into categories by year built, districts, boulevards and more. He also has pictures of graffiti, murals and sorts them by medium used.

The site has thousands of pictures of LA, many (maybe most?) without cars, all sorted by many different criteria which makes this a great resource for anyone interested in Los Angeles architecture or in need of inspiration for their project. Tourists will appreciate the fact that all images come with an address. The idea of taking all these images without cars is what makes this site special. How often have you seen an image of LA or any metropolis for that matter without any cars in it?

This word cloud generator isn’t some plugin used for your blog, but a tool to create a beautiful looking word cloud you can save and print. Visit Wordle and either paste some text, enter a feed URL or a del.icio.us username. Wordle will then create your custom word cloud. We’ve clicked the randomize button a dozen times and got a dozen different designs. Clicking on the advanced tab you can enter your own words and the sizes and colors you’d like them to be displayed at. This is a great way to make posters and even use the word cloud images to create t-shirts.

A fun way to browse through Twitter networks is to use neuroproductions visual Twitter browser. You simply add a Twitter username and that account’s network pops up, including avatars. Screen space is limited, so not all members in your network are displayed. You can then click on the avatars to keep browsing their networks. On Swarmation you’re supposed to build a formation together with other players within a set amount of time. If you manage to create the given formation with other players you win points, if not, you lose points. It gets more challenging the more people are playing because the formations to be built become more complex. This game is surprisingly addictive, even if only a few people are playing.
